![]() To test this feature, I simply copied my current Windows malware collection to a thumb drive and plugged it into the target Mac. Almost all Mac antivirus programs aim to knock out Windows malware along with Mac-specific attacks, and G Data is no exception. However, it’s still possible that your Mac might act as a carrier, giving the Windows malware access to your network. It’s true that a Windows program, malicious or otherwise, just can’t run on a Mac. You might think checking for Windows malware on a Mac is pointless. How Well Does G Data Handle Windows Malware? Do remember, though, that after your initial full scan the real-time protection features take most of the responsibility for keeping you safe from malware. The scan took 90 minutes, more than double the current average of 38 minutes. With everything installed and ready, I ran a full scan on my test Mac. Interestingly, the macOS edition supports Chrome and Firefox but not Safari. If anything is amiss, the display changes to a circled red X, with the message “Your Mac is at Risk” followed by details about what’s amiss.Īs with the Windows product, you must install browser extensions for full protection. When everything is hunky-dory, you see a large circled green checkmark and the words “Your Mac is Protected”. On a Mac, shades of black and gray dominate the main window, with a simple menu at left. The macOS edition could hardly look more different. A red band across the top holds square icon panels representing the product’s various features, and the remaining screen real estate, mostly white, reflects the selected feature. G Data’s Windows products have a strong resemblance to each other. If you’re installing from an existing license, you activate by linking to your online account. In standalone mode, you install the software, set up an online account, and activate protection with your license key. You can install the macOS antivirus as a standalone product, or as part of your subscription to either of G Data’s suite-level products. Avast One Essential for Mac, AVG, Bitdefender, and Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac took perfect scores from both labs. In terms of lab scores, four products showed up as big winners. All tested products except Intego Mac Internet Security reached certification by this lab. AV-Comparatives reports the percentage of macOS malware detection, and separately reports detection of Windows malware and of potentially unwanted applications (PUAs). All but one of the products I follow earned a perfect 18 points. To be fair, only about a third of the products I track appear in any lab reports, and only half of those show up in reports from both labs.ĪV-Test Institute rates antivirus products, whether for macOS or Windows, on their Protection, Performance, and Usability, with six points available for each. ![]() Unfortunately, both labs omit G Data from their reports. On the macOS platform, I don’t have the equivalent hands-on tests, so lab reports from the two labs that cover macOS become more important. My test programs and protocols evolved over years of testing on Windows. When I review Windows antivirus products, I run an extensive set of hands-on tests, supplementing my findings with reports from four independent antivirus testing labs. What Do the Independent Testing Labs Say About G Data? G Data falls somewhere in the middle, with support for macOS versions starting with 10.12 (Sierra). Intego’s support goes back almost 10 years, to macOS 10.9 (Mavericks). Others are fine even with rather old versions. Norton 360 Deluxe for Mac, for example, only supports the current version plus the previous two, meaning that at present it supports Catalina or later. ![]() Some macOS antivirus tools require that you keep up with the very latest macOS versions. ![]() Best Hosted Endpoint Protection and Security Software. ![]()

![]() ![]() This can be quite dangerous, and it is never recommended to carry a firearm with the safety disengaged. This gun does feature a front drop safety, but the only way that this would be useful is if the safety lever is off. The downside here is that the safety on the Taurus G3 is positioned for right-handed people to easily use, and they do not offer a left-handed or ambidextrous option. ![]() Many lefties have figured out how to do some things right-handed, but when it comes to firing a gun, it’s important to shoot it whichever way is more comfortable. Unfortunately, many things in this world are made for those that are right-handed. If you notice the barrel overheats, this can lead to damage that results in loss of accuracy. Using it for target practice, small game hunting, or plinking is fine, but it’s best to avoid rapidly firing this particular handgun. The best way to avoid this is by not firing the gun too quickly. This can be problematic because you have to allow time for it to cool before you proceed with shooting. After 2-3 magazines worth of firing, the slide becomes hot to the touch. When you’re shooting at a leisurely pace, it usually stays pretty cool, but when you start firing more rapidly, the gun heats up quickly. If you’re a fan of fast-firing when you hit the shooting range, you may want to rethink this particular handgun. One caveat to clearing a jam, however, is that if the jam occurred due to the pistol being dropped or otherwise struck, the firearm should be taken to a trained and licensed gunsmith or armorer for a full functionality and safety check. ![]() Verify that the gun has been cleared, that the barrel and battery are empty, and the gun can be considered unloaded and safe.In situations where a round is stuck and cannot easily be manually removed, you may need to slide a cleaning rod down the barrel to dislodge it.Remove the jammed cartridge or casing by either shaking or manually removing it.Once the magazine is removed, ensure the slide is pulled all the way back and locked into place. If the magazine will not release, you may need to pull the slide back further or engage the slide catch, and if stuck the magazine may need to be gently pulled out. Press the magazine release and remove the magazine.Be sure that your finger is off the trigger and placed on the memory pad.Ensure the muzzle of the pistol is pointed in a safe direction, as the gun is still considered to be loaded and ready to fire until properly cleared. If you’ve experienced a jam, there are some simple steps that you can perform to easily clear the jam and bring the pistol back to its working state. If your Taurus G3 does become jammed, a cartridge or shell case may end up stuck in the pistol, which can result in an inability to operate the pistol or a dangerous operational state. This lubrication allows the bullets to slide much more easily, resulting in smoother shooting with far fewer jams. The problem with this is that the hollow point gets jammed in the feed ramp, resulting in the bullet not being able to enter the battery normally.įortunately, there is a way that many individuals have found to remedy the problem: Several customers have had better luck with their firearm after disassembling it and polishing the feed ramp really well. Many users find that they have an easier time utilizing brass-cased bullets, with nickel alloy casing giving them more trouble. This problem seems to be influenced by the type of ammo that is being used. One of the most widespread issues that people come across with the Taurus G3 is the failure to feed. ![]() ![]() ![]() If this doesn't work it's your adapter or cable that is the issue. We recommend setting it at 60Hz if possible but you can try experimenting with whatever options are available to see if it helps. Then tick the box that says 'show low resolution modes' and then change the refresh rate to 60hz. To change the refresh rate, you need to go to the Display settings on your Mac by going to System Preferences > Displays where you can manually change the refresh rate. With SwitchResX it is totally easy to match your screen resolution to the best for any app or use. I suggest you open a Wavlink Support ticket and see if the issue is due to not being compatible with Montery OS if the latest Wavlink driver doesn't work. You need to option +click on scaled in display settings and then select 4k resolution. SwitchResX - Complete Control over your Monitor Current version is 4.12.2. The Manual shows it being compatible with MacOS-X. It could be not compatible with your new Dell Monitor.Īlso since that is a new MacOS it might not be 100% compatible. Have you tried to see if you get with a different Monitor. If you have the beta version I linked above, then it should show all the high refresh rate options. If you haven't installed this latest Driver for your wavlink Docker that might be the reason why you aren't getting the proper resolutions.Īt Amazon it does mention that it supports DP & HDMI other Wavlink Docker (UMD-03) that I had posted mentioned that its maximum DP & HDMI was at and not 60hz The 120Hz option should be auto-detected in SwitchResX Current Resolutions tab. With SwitchResX you get back control on your screen or screens even There are plenty of inbuilt options, that make life a lot easier and more comfortable just by clicking the mouse a few times: Automatically change resolutions to match your different software needs. Strange but your Wavlink Model doesn't show up at WavLink Website, but it does mention a very recent Driver but for MacOS-X for it: Found the model at Amazon with its specs: Your Mac will ask if you want to keep the settings, don’t click. Macworld’s Jared Newman highlights BetterDummy, a clever utility that addresses this limitation in. On your keyboard, click and hold the Option key. Macs don’t provide HiDPI (or Retina) scaling for sharp text on monitors with less than 4K resolution, including those with a 1440p resolution (2560 by 1440 pixels), and existing workarounds for Intel-based Macs don’t work with M1-based Macs. Seems like Monterey is a new OS.Įdited my reply because I was showing the wrong Wavlink Model. Open the System Settings app on your Mac while connected to an external monitor. It would seem that the hardware is not an issue since it works after a reboot and works with my Dell Windows laptop.MacOS comes with its own built in native AMD Drivers. However I know it is, as all that is needed is a reboot. I have tried Switchresx but hasn't helped since the Mac must be detecting that it is not possible. I think Apple just put a lid on GPU load to get a smoother graphics and possibly avoid overheating of the GPU inside a laptop. Wondering if there is anyway to force 60Hz since it has issues recognizing it. The 2013 Mac Pro can drive 4K at 60 Hz, the 2013 rMBPs can drive 4K at 30 Hz (and they have a one year newer Intel graphics than your Mac Mini, assuming its a 2012 model). Once in recovery mode, open a terminal window. When I connect my Windows laptop to it, I don't have the same issue. Boot into the recovery partition by pressing CMD + R when starting up your Mac. It is random which of the monitors will revert to 30 Hz. After a little bit, with the mac going to sleep, one of the two monitors will revert to 30 Hz and cannot be set back to 60 Hz. Het is een voor wat, hoort wat-verhaal als het om het display gaat. My issue is that the refresh rate on one of the monitors will max out at 30 Hz. I have two 4k monitors connected via Display Port.
